The musicologist and musician is currently doing his doctorate in the field of Gregorian chant research. In addition to his activities as an organist, he also devotes himself to choral singing in various forms. On Leiermann he writes about various aspects of this music.

Beyond the study of the music itself, he is particularly interested in the intertwining of music with liturgy and culture in general over time, as well as in the psychological consideration of cognitive developments in the field of this art.
